introducing.....
Maya Anne Wentworth
June 13, 2011
7 lbs 7 oz
20 inches
Birth story:
I started having contractions on Monday the 13th around 3:30 pm. They weren't too bad, but they were frequent enough to put me into action. I finished packing my hospital bag and Brenna's sleepover bag. I started cleaning up here and there while waiting for Ross to get home.
The contractions started coming every 7-8 mins.
Ross got home and I broke the news to him :) He started to get some of his stuff together...
I called my mother in law and asked if she was home (she was going to be watching Brenna). She asked "Do I need to be?"
Yes. We were there in 15 minutes.
Riding in the car, the contractions were 10-12 minutes apart. I kept thinking that I don't want to go into the hospital and be told to walk around for awhile so the contractions could be closer. So I walked around Dixine's house until they were 7-8 minutes apart again. Then we headed up to LDS.
Checked in, got into my gown and started walking around my room. The contractions were getting painful, but not super close together. Finally the nurse came in to 'check me'. I was dialated to a 5 1/2. Much better than I thought I was going to be. She called the anesthesiologist for the epidural.
I forget how scary/painful/nerve racking the epidural is. Trying to hold super still while a huge needle goes in your back. Yuck. It took a while for it to affect my left side, so I could still feel contractions. But it finally got there.
Around 8:15, a doctor came in to break my water, and when she checked me, I was fully dialated.
We were ready to go.
My doctor came in around 8:30. I pushed about 4-5 times and Maya was born.
She had swallowed meconium, so I wasn't able to hold her right after. They took her over into the corner and started suctioning the stuff out. They took 1 1/2 oz out of her! She wasn't breathing well, so they decided to take her to the NICU and put a CPAP machine on her. I did get to hold her for a minute before they took her, though.
Maya got to come back 45 minutes later, doing great.
She is super cute and we're so excited that she's a part of our family.

done.
The basement.
Done....for now. Painting is done. Carpet is in. TV stand comes on Friday so we can finally set up our new TV we've been saving for this day. We bought it in October.
It's about time, don't you think?!
Here is the before of the stairs.
Before
After. This will be our office
The 'hallway' after
This will be our TV room/family room. SO excited for this!!
I picked out my perfect color (Benjamin Moore's Gray Mirage), got a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff, put it on the wall and it was too dark for me.
Crap.
So my ever patient husband dumped 3 gallons of white paint to it to lighten it up. Each gallon he put in, he'd put it on the wall, wait for it to dry, look at me and my expression, and just kept adding more. He knows me so well!
Needless to say...it turned out perfect. And the carpet is brown, but in these pictures it almost has a red tint to it.
I can't stop staring at the carpet. I can finally go in my own basement with bare feet!
